The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship announced the launch of Canada’s first-ever Tech Talent Strategy to attract Foreign Nationals who can help drive emerging technology innovation in the country. Beginning on July 16, 2023, Canada will be accepting applications for open work permits from current H-1B visa holders. Immediate family members can join their spouse or parent by obtaining an open work permit or a study permit. The open work permit allows the Foreign Nation to work for any employer for up to three years. This is a beneficial option for current H-1B holders who will be running out of status soon.
