As the holiday season approaches, many are making travel plans to visit loved ones abroad. However, the political landscape may significantly impact travel for non-U.S. citizens due to anticipated policy changes under the incoming administration. It is crucial to stay informed and prepared to ensure a smooth return to the United States.

Colleges and universities are warning students and faculty that if they plan to travel abroad for the holidays, they should return before the inauguration on January 20, 2025. This is because President-elect Donald Trump is expected to issue numerous executive orders that may impact non-U.S. citizens.

If you are not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, it is recommended that you download Form I-94 after every new entry into the United States.

Visit https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov to access Form I-94.

Please note that Form I-94 governs your lawful stay in the United States—not your passport, visa, or prior petition approval.
