Client Alert!
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) wants you to participate in an engagement on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Syria on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST.
On July 29, 2022, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced the extension and redesignation of Syria for TPS for 18 months. This extension of TPS for Syria allows current beneficiaries to retain TPS through March 31, 2024, if they meet TPS eligibility requirements. The redesignation of Syria allows Syrian nationals and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Syria, who have continuously resided in the United States since July 28, 2022, and have been continuously physically present in the United States since October 1, 2022, to file initial applications for TPS, if they are otherwise eligible.
During this engagement, USCIS will provide an overview of the extension and redesignation of Syria for TPS. USCIS will then hold a question-and-answer session. They will not address case-specific questions, questions outside the scope of the engagement, or issues under active litigation.
