AILA Rejects Administration’s Dangerous Threats on Immigration Attorneys

The Trump Administration has issued a directive calling for increased oversight, sanctions, and reviews of attorneys handling asylum and immigration cases. The memo cites concerns over “rampant fraud and meritless claims.”

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has responded, stating that its members uphold the Constitution and adhere to high ethical and professional standards. AILA President Kelli Stump emphasized the role of immigration attorneys in ensuring fair representation, while Executive Director Benjamin Johnson highlighted the importance of legal advocacy in the immigration system.
